When photographing a sunset, one of the biggest mistakes is allowing the camera to expose the scene too brightly. The brightest parts of the sky—the yellows, oranges and reds around the sun can quickly become overexposed. Once those highlights are clipped, the colour information is gone, and no amount of Lightroom or Luminar editing can truly bring it back.
Instead, I generally recommend exposing for the sky and slightly underexposing the image. A good starting point is around ⅓ stop to 1 stop underexposure, depending on how bright the sky is and how much contrast there is between the sky and foreground
